Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get started with CodeContext?

Sign up for a free account, create your first coding standard or import an API spec, then connect your AI tool via MCP. The whole process takes just a few minutes. Our Getting Started guide walks you through each step.

What is MCP and how does it work?

MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open protocol that lets AI assistants access external tools and data sources. CodeContext uses MCP to deliver your coding standards and API specs directly into your AI assistant’s context, so it follows your team’s conventions when writing code.

Can I use CodeContext with multiple AI tools?

Yes. Your CodeContext account works with any number of MCP-compatible AI tools simultaneously. You can use Claude Desktop, Cursor, Windsurf, VS Code, and others all connected to the same set of standards and specs.

How do I import my existing API specs?

Navigate to the API Specs section in your dashboard and upload your OpenAPI (Swagger) specification file. CodeContext supports OpenAPI 3.0 and 3.1 in both JSON and YAML formats. Your specs are immediately available to your connected AI tools.
