Understanding Usage & Limits

Last updated 2026-03-14

What Counts as Usage

Usage in CodeContext is measured by several factors depending on your plan:

  • Standards — The number of active standards in your knowledge base.
  • API specs — The number of imported API specifications.
  • Team members — The number of members in your organization.
  • MCP requests — The number of requests made through the MCP endpoint per month.

Viewing Your Usage

You can see your current usage at any time by going to Settings > Billing > Usage. This page shows your current counts compared to your plan's limits, with a visual bar for each metric.

Plan Limits

Each plan has different limits for standards, API specs, team members, and MCP requests. When you reach a limit, you will not be able to add more of that resource until you upgrade your plan or reduce your usage.

Check the pricing page for specific limits on each plan.

Approaching Your Limit

CodeContext will notify you when you reach 75%, 90%, and 100% of your MCP usage limit. All organization admins (not just the owner) receive these email notifications. You will also see a banner in your dashboard. This gives you time to upgrade your plan or clean up unused resources before hitting the limit.

If your entity counts (standards, API specs) exceed your plan limits — for example, after a downgrade — MCP access will be paused until you reduce usage or upgrade. You can always view and manage your data in the dashboard, and the Usage page will show a banner with guidance on how to get back within limits.

If you are on a trial, you will receive reminder emails 3 days before and on the day your trial expires, so you have time to subscribe or prepare for the transition to the Free plan.

Stripe handles payment receipts, failed payment notifications, and card-expiring alerts natively — you do not need to configure anything for those.
